ANNUAL MEETING

 

The Society's next formal meeting will take place in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Association for Asian Studies in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (March 16 - 19, 2017).

 

Specifics for the T'ang Studies Society meeting are as follows:

 

Date: Saturday, March 18. 2017

Tim: 9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Location: Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel Willow East Room

 

 

 

T'ANG STUDIES SOCIETY SMALL RESEARCH GRANTS AND TRAVEL GRANTS

 

When resources permit, the T’ang Studies Society offers funding for small research grants and travel grants to support scholars studying the Tang dynasty in any discipline. The guidelines for application, deadlines, and other procedures are listed below by grant type. For the research grants, a brief report from the grantee must be submitted to the president of TSS within one month of completing the supported research.

Applicants for these grants must be members of the Society in good standing. If you are not sure if your membership is current, please email the secretary-treasurer at admin@tangstudies.org. Please note that applicants may only apply for one type of grant in a given calendar year.

 

In years when funding is available, the Society will announce the competitions early in the calendar year.

 

 

 

CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENTS


Second Conference on Middle Period Chinese Humanities

 

This will be a wide-ranging conference covering China's Middle Period from the Tang through the early Ming dynasty held at Leiden University September 14-17, 2017. Information on the conference and the call for papers can be found at the conference website:

MEMBERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Membership dues include a subscription to the Society's journalTang Studies as well as eligibility to participate in Society sponsored events. More information on the benefits of membership and dues payment options is available on the Membership page.

 

Current dues rates are as follows:

    • Individual Memberships: $35

    • Student Memberships: $20
    • Life Memberships: One-time dues payment of 20 times regular membership, currently $700 (November 2016)

As a result of the Society's publication relationship with the Taylor & Francis Group, all current members of the Society have online access to the full run of T’ang Studies back issues. Click HERE for access.
